Great! How about us, the ones that added PayPay express to our sites 10 days ago? Any chance we get to participate in this program or are we screwed for being just slighly ahead of the game?

Tom,
There is no reason you cannot go to the Yahoo! PayPal Checkout program site and sign up right now for the program. Existing merchants can take advantage of the program and get the benefits. If you have PayPal Express Checkout enabled, then you are already on your way towards qualifying for the promotion.

Paypal was sure quick to call me to ask if I had any questions on how to add this or set up that, but when I called my “rep” back 3 days later, she was not available, nor did she return my message. I figured it out on my own eventually, but it seemed like a sales pitch with no follow up….
It also seems that all these “Marketing” bonuses and benefits and programs are geared up to the larger companies with larger budgets for advertising and marketing…. not much out there for those of us with only a couple hundred dollars a month or so to spend on additional advertising….

I did sign up, and look forward to the savings thru this promotion. I just added paypal to my site about two weeks ago now, and I’m amazed by the number of new, and existing customers that prefer it over visa/mastercard.

Yes. With over 100 million registered users and all of the fears around privacy and security, the PayPal Express Checkout experience is persuasive for buyers. Saving money and building trust with buyers seems like a win-win all around.

Pat,
Sorry to hear you had trouble getting a hold of your representative. I can’t tell from your comment if the issue was on our side or with PayPal. If you have any questions still, feel free to post them here and I can make sure you get an answer. With the Payment Center changes, turning on PayPal Express Checkout in stores using Checkout Manager should be straightforward.
As for your comment about the Marketing benefits geared for larger merchants, I’m not sure I understand the logic there. Free processing on PayPal Express Checkout transactions is free processing for all merchants regardless of your advertising budget. Also, the $100 credit for Search Marketing wouldn’t even register for large advertiser who may spend that much per hour. For a merchant just getting started though, the $100 credit spent wisely on select non-competitive keywords can show some nice return and provides an opportunity to test-drive the newly revised Sponsored Search platform for those unfamiliar with it. That said, one of our focuses this year will be on driving traffic to promote stores and those efforts will benefit the smaller merchants on the platform that may not already be doing some of these things on their own.

Maybe I am just reading it wrong. When I looked into it, the way to get the free processing was to sign up for the Marketing. They way I read it is as long as you spend some money on search marketing, keywords and such, you will get free processing…or maybe I’m not reading it right…

Hi, I’m like Tom, and have already been using Paypal.. do I need to disable it and re-sign up to get no fees and 100 credit? or will the charges just stop and a credit will appear in my next statement?
thanks,
dave
Comment by David Lindenbaum — April 26, 2007 #
No there is no need to disable and re-sign up for PayPal. You will need to go to the Yahoo! PayPal Checkout program site (linked above) and complete the registration process for the program. The site also says it will take 4 weeks for credits to appear in your account.

We have signed up for this program about 2 weeks ago…. and do have Paypal Express enabled in our Yahoo Checkout Manager….
Was wondering how long it will take to get the shopping cart icon on our Yahoo Sponsored Search listings ? We did not receive any type of e-mail confirmation once registering ??
Comment by Linda F — May 1, 2007 #
Hi Linda,
The number I have seen is 10 days for the shopping cart icon to appear in your Sponsored Search ads. The 10 days starts at the point where you qualify for the program. I would recommend contacting Yahoo! Search Marketing Customer Care. You can submit a request after log in. Let me know if you do not get a reply.
Paul
[Update] Your ads should be showing the shopping cart icon by end of day tomorrow.

Thanks so much for the reply and update.
YES, the shopping cart icon is now showing on our Sponsored Ads.
Thanks again !!

Hello
I’m signed up for the program, but have not seen a credit appear on my PayPal account. I should see the credit in the next months activity right? I sent an email to PayPal about it, and the person from PayPal was confused and didn’t know anything about it? I sent them a link to the program and have not heard back from them yet
Comment by Tom S — May 8, 2007 #
Hi Tom,
Yes the information we have from PayPal on the program is that the credits will appear in the month following qualifying for the program. So if you have signed up for the program at the site listed in the post and met the qualification requirements for that, and have enabled PayPal Express Checkout in your site, then the credits will begin in the month following. Let me follow up with PayPal and determine where the issue may be.

Is there a way to verify that you have successfully completed registration?
Basically, I am concerned that I would need to wait a month or two, to find out that I didn’t type in the site name correctly, or, other info.
causing the registration to not be able to not tie together the search, store, and paypal.
Comment by darwin collins — May 18, 2007 #
Darwin,
Yahoo! Store does not have a means to check on the registration. We are passing data to Yahoo! Search Marketing and PayPal but they are not passing anything back in terms of confirmation. If you have Sponsored Search ads, then you will know that part is working when the shopping cart icon appears in your listings (ten days after qualifying). You can see Yahoo! Store is working when you see no transaction fees for PayPal Express Checkout transactions in your Billing History. You will know PayPal is working when you view your Billing History at PayPal and see credits for any PayPal transaction. Wish there was something more definitive I can offer you but please contact Customer Care if you feel you should be qualified but are not seeing any of the benefits.

Can someone please tell me who to call if I have questions about this??? Noone at PayPal seems to know about it…they refer me to Yahoo. Yahoo doesn’t have a clue either…they refer me to PayPal.
Comment by Joey — June 1, 2007 #
Joey,
The number to call depends on what your question(s) may be. If you have questions about Yahoo! Search Marketing or enabling PayPal in your store, then you should contact Yahoo! Customer Care.
If your question relates to PayPal, then you can call PayPal at the following number: 1 866-648-5866.

I still have not recieved a credit on my PayPal account for what she be close to 2 months of activity since I enrolled in this program. And I have yet to talk to anyone that can help me at PayPal?
Comment by Tom — June 4, 2007 #
I just registered for this program. I have a different PayPal account and Yahoo Sponsered Search Account. How do I make sure they are tied together and everything flows through?
Comment by Zvi — June 17, 2007 #
Zvi–Not sure I understand your point. Your PayPal account and Yahoo! Search Marketing account would of course be different. When you sign up for the program you indicate your PayPal account by entering the email you use to sign in to PayPal. The website you enter would be the site in which you have PayPal Express Checkout enabled.
For questions related to PayPal, you can call:
1 866-648-5866
For questions related to Yahoo! Search Marketing, sign in to your account and use the contact us link.

Paul,
How would you know which ads belong to my web site and display the “paypal express” cart logo in my Yahoo Search Marketing ads? Basically you know my web site/yahoo store id and paypay login, but not my Yahoo Search Marketing account.
Comment by Zvi Dubin — June 19, 2007 #
Zvi,
My contact in Yahoo! Search Marketing says:
“The matching is made by comparing the domain of the PayPal Business URL with the URL of the Ad within the Yahoo! Search Marketing account.”
In other words, the URL you provided to PayPal upon signup for PayPal is then matched with URLs within your Sponsored Search ads.
Paul
Comment by Administrator — June 19, 2007 #
Is the displayed URL matched with the URL you provided to PayPal (which will work for me), or is the destination URL matched with the URL you provided to PayPal (which wont work for me, I use the site search as the landing page)?
Comment by Zvi Dubin — June 19, 2007 #
Zvi,
My YSM contact says the following must match:
Display URL (independent of destination URL) within Y!SM Account Ads 2. Business URL within PayPal account. The advertiser can find the Business URL by clicking on the My Account Tab at PayPal, going to the Profile subtab, and clicking the Business Information link under Account Information.
So while your destination urls may be a different domain, it seems as long as your display url for the ads and the business url supplied to PayPal are the same, then your Sponsored Search ads will get the PayPal checkout icon.

I enabled Yahoo Express Checkout via my Yahoo! Store over 10 days ago. I signed up for the Yahoo! PayPal Checkout program at the same time. Is there any issue? The Business URL is correctly listed as my domain also. The “PayPal Express Cart” is not yet showing up in my Yahoo Search Marketing ads yet?
Thanks
Zvi

Zvi,
I would recommend signing in to your Yahoo! Search Marketing account and using the contact us link to open a ticket for this issue. The Customer Care team for Search Marketing should be able to answer why the PayPal icon is not appearing for your Sponsored Search ads.

Paul,
I did exactly what you said, “signing in to your Yahoo! Search Marketing account and using the contact us link to open a ticket for this issue”. I have not heard a thing? I did this on June 28th. Is there anything else I can do?
Zvi
Comment by Zvi Dubin — July 3, 2007 #
Zvi,
You should be getting an email from a Customer Care representative shortly explaining what the problem was and when your ads will appear.

Paul,
Everything is working now. I spoke with my Yahoo accounting rep and he told me I need to add the PayPal button to my cart page in addition to the ship/bill page. Thanks for all your help!

Zvi–glad to know that the issue has been resolved. Thanks for telling us.–Paul

I signed up for this program as soon as it came out. My Paypal account manager approved everything on my website after a long conference call to address some changes she wanted to see. After having the shopping cart added to my yahoo search marketing, I never got my $100 credit and have NEVER seen an express checkout credit. I have emailed my account manager 3-4 times over the last 3 months about this and have NEVER gotten a response. Please let us know what more we need to do to get this fully setup as we are starting to get really pissed off at Paypal and are looking to run almost exclusively with GoogleCheckout and Bank of America if this is no t resolved soon.
Comment by martin — September 3, 2007 #
Martin,
I will pass along your comments to the Yahoo! Search Marketing support team so they can investigate why you did not receive the $100 credit. You can also log in to your Search Marketing account and file a ticket as well.
As for getting credit for your PayPal Express Checkout transactions, those will need to come from PayPal as there is no Yahoo! component to that part of the program–hence nothing we can investigate on our side though I will also be sure to pass along your comment to our contact there. For questions related to PayPal, you can call: 1 866-648-5866 if you are unable to get your account representative to answer questions.

Martin,
A person from PayPal contacted me after I forwarded your comment. They could not find your account based on your domain. Could you post the email account associated with your PayPal account or other info to help them contact you to the blog–you could also just send to store-blog-feedback at yahoo-inc.com if you do not wish to post to the comments. I’m guessing your business name on the account may be different from your domain and that could be part of the problem–just a guess on my part but seen it before.
[Update]–The PayPal representative informed me they were able to locate your account so you should be contacted by them to investigate your issue.

Not sure if exactly on topic but I have a problem where the Paypal billing page says: “Create an account or Log in” As in the customer has to create a paypal account or log in to paypal before they can finish the checkout. I have my store set to allow checkout without a paypal account. This supposedly only happens sometimes depending on a filter at paypal. That is it is a risk measure applied a given percent of the time. I want to know how often and Paypal support wont say.
