Hey Bob -

Being thrown in jail or having my site end up in the supplemental index would be the least of my worries... as I'd most likely be outcasted from the SEM industry.

All humor aside, it's not that I fear that something will happen to me should I reveal details from the "Give It Up" session, rather it is more of a moral dilemma about making good on my word. The speakers during this session dug deep into their toolboxes and trick-bags in order to share some really worthwhile stuff... and they did so under the impression that members of the audience wouldn't turn around and immediately publish it the next day. The speakers certainly held up their end, now it's time for the audience, myself included, to do the same.

With that being said, rest assured that as soon as the embargo is lifted (it was only to be for a month) that every blogger in that audience will be spilling their guts. I would even bet that industry super-bloggers such as Barry Schwartz (SERoundtable), Matt McGee (Small Business SEM), and Lisa Barone (Bruce Clay Blog) already have a follow-up post written and are ready to publish come 12:01am on July 5th.

Thanks for your comment.

Worse than jail--they could put his site in supplemental results!

I'll let Karl defend himself on this but I do know that he is an honorable and trustworthy guy, and he is not holding info back for his own gain per se. If the agreement was no public spreading of those tips, then I respect that Karl is honoring the agreement. It would be great to know what was shared, and I bet some of it will eventually come to light, but any complaints should be directed to the organizers of the session. Of course they may just say, be sure to come to the next SMX conference--which is a good idea anyways.

"Unfortunately, due to an embargo that was formed just before the session got underway (it was the only way the panel would share their goods) we, the members of the audience, are not able to share with you any of the details presented during that session. Sorry guys."

Come on, what are they going to do? Throw you in jail?
