Coupon Descriptions Added
September 3, 2008 | In General, News & Announcements |Earlier in the week we released a small change to make coupon management a little easier. Next time you’re creating a coupon in Coupon Manager, you’ll see a description field that gives you the ability to include a description with each coupon you create. These descriptions won’t be shown to shoppers as they redeem the coupons — coupon descriptions only appear in Coupon Manager, and are intended to help you keep track of which coupons are which.
Along with being able to include a description for all coupons you create going forward, you can also edit your existing coupons to add descriptions that will help remind you what they were for. With this addition, you no longer have to rely on the coupon code to remember the promotion it is tied to, which we hope will help you with coupon management and will give you more freedom in naming your coupon codes.
The description field is not a required field, so if you don’t want to use it, you can continue creating coupons as you have in the past. However, using descriptions is a good way to keep track of your coupons, and can be especially helpful if you run a lot of coupon promotions for your store.

Not sure if this is in the product roadmap, but it would be great to create, manage and delete coupon codes programmatically via an API. The idea would be tailor and test offers on a one-on-one basis.

Thank you. I would love to have more parameters to modify when using coupons as a promotional tool. EX. This coupon can only be applied to products on Page X. Or Coupon can only be used for products whose code begins with ATJ….
Right now they are very confining. You can either use across ALL products or you have to manually enter part #s one by one (or copy/paste) Please make it easier to define parameters for qualifying products.
ALSO, please give us the opportunity to promote using a buy one , get one free. Buy 4, get 20% off, etc. We would love a real promotions module! It would give us all more $, which would give Yahoo more $. Thanks.
